The proud owner of the world record for the largest whitetail deer ever caught is Milo Hansen. With a score of 213 5/8 B&C, the Hanson buck is the largest deer ever caught. Measuring over 27 inches, six of the rack’s 10 main points exceed 11 inches, a truly remarkable specimen. A record that will be hard to beat. Here is a picture with the monster :

The environment where the deer was caught is a mixture of aspen bluffs and farmlands. Approximately 20%-30% of the zone has low areas which contain a lot of aspens and willows. On the 23th of November 1993 Milo Hansen and three other friends John Yaroskho, Walter Meger and Rene Igini went on what eventually turned out to be the most intense hunting experience of their lives.
Rene was walking the tracks while the other three were surrounding the willows. Milo Hansen placed himself in a position from where the deer couldn’t move south onto nearby posted land. After spotting the deer for the first time, Milo took a few shots but missed the deer by a long shot. Later on, they have lost the buck in a maze of other deer tracks so they thought, at least for the moment, that they have missed their chance. But, just when hope was about to die, they have spotted the buck, running out of an aspen bluff and was heading into a willow run onto Milo’s land. They all made a few shots but missed again.
They moved up to the next willow run and when the large animal ran out it turned straight away from Milo, that is when he fired his .308 Winchester Model 88 lever-action and the deer collapsed. Amazingly, the deer got up and managed to run into a nearby aspen bluff. Milo ran up the hill where the buck disappeared and he saw it again, standing still. Milo aimed through his 4-power scope and made a shot with his weapon, the buck didn’t stand a chance and it went down, this time for good.
To make sure that was the end of it, Mil Hansen fired another shot. On a first glance, Milo knew that he had shot one of the largest whitetail deer in the world, but he had no idea that he killed the largest one. After a few friends measured it, all with similar results ( between 214 and 215 points ), Milo began to think that it might be the largest whitetail deer ever caught.
A few days later, to be more exact on the 1 st of December, 1993 an official measurer for the Boone and Crockett Club, Norm Parchewsky, scored the rack at exactly 214-4/8 for Saskatchewan’s Henry Kelsey records book. It was now official, Milo Hansen had caught the largest whitetail deer in the world. His record hasn’t been beaten yet, but this is only a matter of time as the struggle to catch the largest whitetail deer is intense and all hunting enthusiasts want the first place in this never-ending battle.
